Your A2 work tests application of the skills and processes learned in first year. You undertake two units:
Unit 1: Personal Investigation (60% of your grade)
Unit 2: Externally Set Assignment (40% of your grade)
The assessment criteria changes considerably from A1 to A2, as you now have more skills and knowledge
in your subject area than you did before.
See below:
You should be aiming
for the highest grades to improve your chances of employment/progression to
University. You already have all of these skills from first year, now you just
need to show them off and apply them to this project!
The highest band of
assessment uses words such as:
A01:
sophisticated, thorough, perceptive, rigorous, mature, comprehensive
A02:
sophisticated, rigorous, confident, highly skilful
A03: sophisticated,
rigorous, perceptive, effective, critical
A04: highly
imaginative, personal, meaningful, significant, perceptive
There’s a pattern
there isn’t there? Your work needs to develop from A1 and make sure that your
sketchbook, samples, design ideas and annotation are presented to the highest standard.
Help to ensure your work is sophisticated and rigorous:
