Easter Workshops take place on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th April 9am to 4pm for support with any of the following:

  • Completing outstanding practical work
  • Annotation and evaluation
  • Presenting work

A2 Homework: Mini Conclusion

For homework complete a mini-conclusion analysing your progress with the project so far. When complete email a copy to Erin at: erin.day@asfc.ac.uk

Suggested structure questions:

When I first began my project how did I explore the theme and how has this developed?

What about my theme am I interested in investigating further?

What artists have I researched and what have I learned from them?

What techniques and materials have I experimented with? Which have been most successful and why?

What are my plans moving forward toward design ideas?

How do I see my project progressing from here?

What primary sources will I need?

Is there anything my work so far is lacking/that I wished I had more of in order to develop? Is there an artist/additional research that I could utilise to help me with this?

*Save pins that visualise your ideas on Pinterest ready to print out as an inspiration moodboard on Monday

Deadline: 20th March

Homework w/c 13th March

Use your independent study time this week to:

Sign into Textiles and complete any unfinished samples

Present and annotate your samples – primary and combination – in your sketchbook

Saturday, 4 March 2017

Homework w/c 27th Feb

Create 4 additional independent studies using primary sources as inspiration.
This should show further investigation so choose ideas that excite you and link to your theme.
Make use of the space in your A3 sketchbooks:
Mount your study alongside the original primary image and use the questions for writing about your own work to annotate what you produce.

Ensure this is complete before Erin reviews your sketchbook:
Monday 6th (A2: second years)
Tuesday 7th (AS: first years)

AS/A2 HALF TERM HOMEWORK

Collect a wide range of primary source photographs/materials for use in developing samples and ideas after half term. Your primary research must relate to your theme and artists researched.

Photographic (take care that images are in focus and not too dark)

30 – 40 primary images (contact sheet) 10 – 20 ‘best images’ to inspire samples

*for portraits ensure there are clean white backgrounds

* try the same subject from different angles, close up and far away

If you are collecting for mixed media work try charity shops, house clearance stall on Ashton Market (Sunday mornings) and car boot sales.

Deadline: 27th February

Look closely at the artists you have studied. Do you need any particular materials, threads, embellishments, trims? Buy these in order to personalise your work!
